THE DAZZLING SUN SETS ON ANOTHER TREASURED DAY OF WRITING!
Each day that passes is another day closer to the release of my new novel “Heart Seasons” and is also another day of writing that is gone!! And those days are so, so precious!
But the good news is, I control the release date of my books since I’m an independent publisher. This makes it easier for me to focus on enjoying the entire process and to choose joy for my life each day!
WRITING MAKES ME HAPPY!
One of the many differences I am enjoying while writing my second novel is
that a lot of the technical writing skills I learned the first time around are already in place. This makes it is much easier to simply sit and write, write, write.
A huge lesson I learned with my first novel that still makes me laugh today is the overuse of the word “that.” As I looked for tips to improve my writing, I read
that “that” is a word that which is most often overused. So, I immediately did a word count on the word “that” in my book and was shocked at how many times I had used it. And it made me laugh out loud!!
The simple rule I use is: Reread the sentence leaving the word “that” out and if it still makes sense leave it out. If it doesn’t make sense, leave it in. Or think about switching it to the word “which” or maybe moving some of the words around in the sentence.
Disclaimer: I am not an English expert, these are just my ideas.
