TIP: Naturally Fermented Old Fashioned Sauerkraut

CRISPY, TASTY, TRADITIONAL, NATURALLY FERMENTED SAUERKRAUT!!

I love eating tart naturally fermented sauerkraut for its live cultures and health benefits. I have read that eating raw sauerkraut is great for digestion and overall health, and that has been my experience.

The process of fermenting cabbage to create sauerkraut produces an abundance of beneficial probiotics, that have been said to support the immune system and improve cognitive, digestive and endocrine function.

Bubbies real food sauerkraut is one of my favorites and I try to eat at least 1 Heaping Tablespoon several times each week, if not daily. Just drain the liquid from a mounded-high spoonful and pop it in your mouth.

According to Bubbies website, “Bubbies Sauerkraut is made from the crisp, center leaves of the finest quality winter cabbages, which are shredded, salted and naturally fermented for several weeks.” It has no sugar, vinegar or preservatives and according to my taste buds, it is the best!!

To eat sauerkraut for health benefits, you must eat it raw. Never heat or cook it and never purchase the shelf-stable versions that are heated and pasteurized. When I use sauerkraut in a recipe I never cook it. One of my favorite ways to enjoy it is my Healthier No-Grilling Turkey Reuben sandwich. Try them for lunch or a light dinner.
